Upgrading to 2016 models

Unfortunately, there is no way to keep the same IP if you are transferring to a 2016 VPS, as they are in a different system.

Our small startup currently owns a VPS 2014 Classic 2. We are considering switching to the new 2016 models for the performance benefit, but we have questions about how upgrading works. There does not seem to be a way to directly upgrade to the new models through the panel. We would be fine with manually ordering a new VPS and reinstalling everything from scratch (we do this roughly twice a year to keep the VPS from being bloated), but it would be nice if the IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6) would transfer so we don't have to worry about changing dozens of references to the IPs. What would be the best way to approach this?

We haven't made a final decision yet as there are a few drawbacks to the new models that we need to consider, but it would be nice to have an idea on how the process would work before we make a decision so that we don't have any last-minute suprises.
